HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS RESULTS 

There were a ton of high school basketball games this weekend as the regular season winds down and we get playoff hoops coming up at the end of the week. Elk City went to OKC to play Harding Fine Arts. The Elkettes were dominant in a 61-3 win. The Elks fell behind early and lost 74-42 to the Firehawks. Elk City’s at home tomorrow night against Cache. Those games have been moved up because the possibility of weather. Girls game will start at 5 with the boys to follow at 6:30. 

ParagonTV had a bunch of games over the weekend as well. On Friday night, Canute obliterated BFDC 74-4, Merritt hammered AB 55-38, Seiling pulled away from C-R 56-43, and Leedey won the 3rd place game of the 270 Conference tournament 57-30. On the boys side, Merritt clipped AB 45-43, Canute smacked BFDC 65-44, and C-R smoked Seiling 76-39.  

There were a couple games on Saturday. In girls action, Hammon fell to Cyril 54-39, and Merritt whipped Turpin 60-30. On the boys side, Hammon edged Cyril 44-43, Merritt lost to Balko-Forgan 54-39, and Leedey won the 270 conference title game 53-50. 

THUNDER SWEEP TWO THIS WEEKEND 

The Ok City Thunder continued to roll over the weekend. The finished a 4 game homestand 4-0 with a 121-109 win against Toronto. Then on Saturday that whipped Memphis on the road in a battle of the two best records in the west 125-112. That’s 5 straight for OKC. They sport the league’s best record at 42-9. They’re back inside Paycom Center tonight with lowly New Orleans in town. You can hear it live on 98.1fm and 1240 am. Pregame gets started at 5:30 with the tip to come at 7 

STATE SCHOOLS SPLIT 

It was a mixed bag on the college hoops hardwood for the state schools this weekend. Oklahoma got pantsed by Tennessee inside the LNC on Saturday 70-52. The Vols led 45-20 at halftime and never looked back. Oklahoma ST earned a nice win inside Gallagher-Iba yesterday. The Pokes got the better of AZ State 86-73.  

SUPER BOWL 59 

Super Bowl 59 was held in the Big Easy last night. It was a rematch of Super Bowl 57 between the Chiefs and Eagles. Kansas City was trying for NFL immortality by becoming the first team ever to win 3 straight Lombardi trophies. It didn’t take long to figure out that wasn’t going to happen. Philly led 24-0 at half, 34-0 in the 3rd quarter before calling off the dogs in a 40-22 whoopin of the two time defending champs. Philly’s defense dominated Pat Mahomes. Jalen Hurts was named the MVP. 

COWAN/SOONERS SHINE IN PUERTO RICO 

The University of Oklahoma men’s golf team got off to a fine start in Puerto Rico this morning. OU’s 3rd as a team after a 13 under round, 3 back of Ole MIss. Ryder Cowan paced the Sooners with a 5 under 67. Cowan sits in a tie for 5th individually, two shots off the individual lead. They’ll play round 2 and 3 the next two days at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, PR.
