Milwaukee Wins the World Series; Thunder Blown Out in Dallas

BREWERS WIN FIRST WORLD SERIES

Game 5 of the World Series was played last night at the Trop in Tampa. Milwaukee came in with a decided 3 games to 1 advantage and also had the presumed Cy Young award winner Jacob Misiorowski on the hill versus Drew Rasmussen who was working on short days rest. The Brewers didn’t let that advantage go to waste. Milwaukee took a 4-0 lead into the home half of the 6th when the Miz had to exit with two outs. The stout Milwaukee bullpen came through as they have throughout the playoffs and the Brewers were up 4-1 with two outs in the bottom of the 9th….. That was the Brewers play by play man Jeff Levering on WTMJ in Milwaukee with the call of the final out of Game 5. Milwaukee won the World Series 4 games to 1 and hoisted the championship trophy for the first time in franchise history. Catcher William Contreras was named MVP. The only bummer was long time play by play man Bob Uecker wasn’t there to enjoy it after calling Brewers games from 1971 to 2024. Uecker passed last January at the age of 90. After the Brewers World Series victory there are now only 4 franchises without a World Series title, The Rays, Rockies, Padres, and Mariners. Seattle has never even played in the World Series. Unfortunately Major League Baseball will now shift its attention to the upcoming offseason labor dispute. Hopefully this isn’t the last MLB game played for a long time.

THUNDER IN DALLAS

The Ok City Thunder took it on the chin last night in Dallas with a makeshift group out on the floor due to multiple early season injuries. Cason Wallace and Jalen Williams will be out for a long time, but last night Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso were in street clothes as the Mavericks but on a 3 point shooting clinic in a 120-96 dismantling of OKC. AJ Mitchell led Ok City with 29. Cooper Flagg had 26 for Dallas. The Mavs hit 16 from behind the arc. The Thunder get a couple nights off before heading to Houston to face old friend Kevin Durant and the Rockets.
