HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS  

A busy week on the high school hoops hardwood tipped off last night out at Merritt. The Oilerttes handled Hollis with ease 60-25. The Tigers returned the favor knocking off the Oilers 55-29.  

The West Central basketball tournament got started in Weatherford. In girls action Canute moves on without playing because of sickness in the CBA program. H-E beat up on BFDC 57-29. The Calumet boys also received a pass with CBA boys’ team is sick. H-E torched BFDC 96-66.  

The West Central rolls on tonight. The two girls games are Sentinel/Thomas and AB/Calumet. On the boys side you get Sentinel/Thomas with the nightcap between Canute/AB. You can check out Canute/AB on paragontv.com. Tip for that one is scheduled for 8:15. 

OHIO ST WIN THE NATIONAL TITLE 

For the 6th time in their school’s history, first since 2014, the Ohio St Buckeyes are national champions of college football. Ohio ST held off Notre Dame last night in Atlanta 34-23. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 31-7 lead midway thru the 3rd quarter before the Irish closed it to a one score game with just over 4 minutes left. Ohio St got a huge pass play on 3rd down from Will Howard to Jeremiah Smith that set up the game clinching field goal. Ohio St is the first team in history to beat 5 Top 5 teams in a season.
