HIGH SCHOOL HOOPS

It was a busy night on the high school hoops hardwood all across the paragon sports network. An I-40 rivalry was renewed inside the Pioneer Center with Wford in town. The girl’s game was a battle of two top 15 teams in Class 4A, and it lived up to the hype for most of the night. Wford jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead before the Elkettes trimmed the halftime lead to 2. The second half belonged to the Brown and White. They outscored Wford 43-30 to turn that two point halftime deficit into an 11 point 65-54 win. Elk City had 4 players in double figures led by Abby Brown’s 20. Campbell Garbarino was a huge part of the 3rd quarter run with 10 of his 16 in the frame. Marley Teasley had 16, Talyn Payne added 13 for the Lady Eagles. The Boys game was dominated by the #1 Eagles from the tip. Weatherford led 42-4 at halftime of a 79-19 win. Walker Kennedy paced Wford with 19 and CJ nickson scored 11. The Elks got a team high 8 from Krew Keyes.

Paragon TV had a slew of games on Tuesday night as well. On the girls side of things, Canute edged C-R in a battle of ranked Class A teams 36-33, Leedey flogged Vici 103-29, Merritt won the Battle for Beckham County 58-35 against Sayre, MVG clipped AB 39-29. On those boys games, Canute held off C-R 56-44, Leedey outlasted Vici 61-52, Merritt won the boys version of the Battle for Beckham Co 44-26, AB dismantled MVG 66-35.

THUNDER HAMMER PHILADELPHIA

The Ok City Thunder finished up a 3-1 4 game eastern conf road swing in Philadelphia last night. OKC jumped out to a 37-21 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 118-102 win over a depleted Sixers squad. SGA made his first 10 shots from the field en route to a 32 point night on 12-15 shooting. Jalen Williams chipped in with 24 and Cason Wallace scored 18. The thunder improve to 33-6 with another showdown for the best record in the league coming tomorrow night at the Paycom Center against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

SOONERS HOST TEXAS IN MUST WIN FOR TOURNEY HOPES

A pair of winless SEC teams clash tonight inside the Llyod Noble Center in Norman. 0-3 Oklahoma welcomes 0-3 Texas for the Red River Shootout hoops version. OU won their first 13 before this 0-3 conference starts. Texas was a top ten preseason selection but has floundered around with a 11-5 overall mark. It’s late night hoops in Oklahoma with the tip not scheduled until 9.

NCAA RECORD STREAK ENDS

An Iowa St/Texas Tech women’s basketball game in the middle of January would usually not garner national attention. Last night’s game did just that. The Cyclones defeated the Red Raiders 71-58. How they got there was the noteworthy part. For the first time in 945 games, Iowa St didn’t make a 3 point shot in a game. The Twister Sisters streak dated all the way back to Feb 19, 1995. To give you an idea of just how long that streak lasted, when it begin the WNBA didn’t exist and Geno Auriemma hadn’t won a national title at Connecticut.
