Sayre, OK – An Oklahoma City man is facing multiple felony charges after an alleged struggle with law enforcement at the Flying J truck stop off Interstate 40 in Sayre on Tuesday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Beckham County District Court.

Perry Howard Wilson, 25, of Oklahoma City, was arrested the evening of Nov. 11 after authorities tracked a reportedly stolen pickup to the truck stop at Exit 20.

According to the affidavit, dispatch began broadcasting information around 5 p.m. about a stolen 2017 white GMC Sierra traveling west on I-40 from the Foss exit. The pickup had been entered as stolen in the National Crime Information Center by the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Around 5:30 p.m., dispatch reported the vehicle had stopped at the Flying J. Responding officers arrived and saw a pickup matching the description parked at a fuel pump. They watched a man later identified as Wilson walk out of the store toward the truck.

An officer pulled in between Wilson and the pickup, got out and told Wilson he was under arrest and needed to turn around and put his hands behind his back. According to the affidavit, Wilson told the officer to move out of his way and claimed he was “Jesus Christ.” He refused commands, mocked the officer and challenged him to “get everyone here.”

Additional officers arrived to assist. Wilson kept his hands in his pockets and refused repeated commands to comply. When officers attempted to take him into custody, Wilson allegedly began physically resisting, grabbed one officer and ripped off the officer’s shirt pocket.

Officers attempted to take Wilson to the ground to place him in handcuffs. During the struggle, Wilson allegedly grabbed an officer’s leg while keeping his hands tucked beneath his chest, refusing to allow them to be pulled behind his back.

A deputy arrived and used a Taser in “drive stun” mode while officers tried to free Wilson’s arms. After the deployment, officers were able to pull his arms behind his back and secure him in handcuffs.

According to the affidavit, Wilson then refused to stand or walk, and officers had to carry him to a patrol unit. He was transported to the Beckham County Jail and booked in.

Wilson is accused of battery or assault and battery upon a police officer, resisting an executive officer by force or violence, driving under suspension or revocation, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. His bond was set at $10,000 after a judge found probable cause for his arrest.

All charges are accusations, and Wilson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
