Gotebo, OK — A two-vehicle collision on State Highway 54, about 3.8 miles south of Gotebo, left one man dead and another injured early Tuesday, October 14, 2025, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
OHP says the crash happened at 6:49 a.m. in Kiowa County. The drivers were the only occupants.
Unit 2 driver Gary R. Courtney, 20, of Lookeba, died from his injuries. OHP noted seatbelts were not in use. Next of kin have been notified.
Unit 1 driver Luis A. Silva, 23, of Dover, was injured. OHP listed his vehicle as a commercial motor vehicle. Seatbelts were in use.
State Highway 54 was closed for 6 hours and 41 minutes while troopers investigated and cleared the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
