Weatherford, OK – The Department of Nursing at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford will begin accepting applications for the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program on September 1. Applications will be accepted through February 1.

The Traditional Nursing program at SWOSU equips students with the clinical skills and professional knowledge needed to step confidently into the healthcare field. With small clinical and lab groups, hands-on training, and support from experienced faculty, students receive a strong foundation for success. Graduates of the Traditional Nursing program have achieved a 100 percent career placement rate, showing the program’s strong reputation and connections within the healthcare field. The application for the Traditional Nursing program can be found at www.swosu.edu/nursing/BSN/ under BSN Traditional Track.

High school juniors and seniors aiming for a nursing career also have a unique opportunity through SWOSU’s Direct Admit Pathway (DAP). This option allows qualified students to secure a spot in the BSN program before they even start college. To be eligible, students must hold a GPA of 3.8 or higher and an ACT composite score of at least 25.

Those accepted through the DAP are guaranteed admission into the Traditional BSN program if they maintain their GPA and meet all program requirements. Applications are accepted year-round until students begin at SWOSU as freshmen. Details and the application can be found at https://swosu.jotform.com/nursing/dap.

Both the traditional entry option and the Direct Admit Pathway give students clear routes into a growing and essential profession. SWOSU’s Department of Nursing combines academic preparation with real-world experience, helping future nurses build confidence, gain skills, and step directly into careers where they are needed most.

For questions about the Traditional Nursing application or the Direct Admit Pathway, please contact the Department of Nursing at nursing@swosu.edu.
