SWOSU & ASAP Energy, Inc. Announce New Philanthropic Partnership

Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) and ASAP Energy, Inc. have launched an exciting new philanthropic partnership that will provide valuable financial assistance to the university’s students, faculty, and programs.

SWOSU is honored by the continued investment generously made in our institution by Rick and Sheila Koch and ASAP Energy, Inc.,” said SWOSU President Dr. Diana R. Lovell. “The launch of this new philanthropic partnership represents an exciting new collaboration for us all that will be of great help to our students.”

ASAP Energy, Inc. is owned and operated by Rick and Sheila Koch. Additionally, the Kochs own subsidiaries including Ricks Boots & Outfitters, Lucille’s Roadhouse Restaurants, and Lucille’s Hotel. ASAP General Stores service customers throughout Oklahoma.

Rick Koch’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1979 when he opened his first gasoline station, laying the foundation for ASAP Energy, Inc. Since then, the Koch Family and their related enterprises have been steadfast supporters of SWOSU by contributing to the growth and success of many academic and athletic programs and by volunteering in a wide variety of capacities.

The Kochs, President Lovell, and SWOSU Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees Chairman Philip Busey, Jr., ’04, of Oklahoma City recently gathered for a ceremonial signing event at Lucille’s Restaurant in Weatherford to celebrate the new partnership.

This new multi-year cooperative effort will see the Kochs and ASAP Energy, Inc. investing over $200,000 in charitable support over the next four years in a wide variety of areas at the university including:

  • SWOSU New Student Orientation

  • SWOSU Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame

  • SWOSU Convocation

  • SWOSU Homecoming

  • SWOSU Everett Dobson Golf Classic

  • SWOSU Athletic All-Sports Banquet

  • SWOSU Rodeo

  • SWOSU Athletic Association

The philanthropic partnership between SWOSU and ASAP Energy, Inc. is facilitated by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. An independent 501 C 3 entity, the Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships, and support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
