Northfork Electric Cooperative’s 85th Annual Meeting Offers Info and Prizes

Sayre, OK – Northfork Electric Cooperative’s 85th Annual Meeting will be held under the pavilion at Sayre Municipal Park on Saturday, August 16. Registration begins at 9 a.m. All members who register their attendance will receive an NFEC cap and a steak knife.

Please use the northeast entrance, marked by the NFEC bucket truck displaying the flag. Drive-thru registration will be available at the RV park entrance.

After registering, seating will be provided in and around the pavilion for members who wish to remain outdoors. Alternatively, members may stay in their vehicles and listen to the meeting via short-range FM broadcast (frequency and instructions will be given at registration).

The Western swing band, Sons of the Sage, will return to perform from 9 to 10 a.m. Following the entertainment, the business meeting will be called to order by Jimmy Taylor, president of the board of trustees. During the meeting, elections for trustee positions in Districts 1 and 2 will take place. The current trustees are Bandy Silk (District 1) and Chad Smith (District 2).

Members in attendance will be eligible for a variety of door prizes. This year’s kids’ prizes include four bicycles (for ages 10 and under) and Apple AirPods (for ages 11 to 17). All registered kids will also receive a gold $1 coin.

The grand prize is a John Deere Z545R 60-inch ZTrack mower, sponsored in part by Western Equipment. The runner-up will receive $1,000 in cash, sponsored by R&R Powerline. Prize drawings will take place once a quorum is met, typically around 10 a.m., with winners announced at the conclusion of the meeting. You must be present to win.

LifeSpring Home Health will be on-site offering free health screenings and blood pressure checks. The OBI Blood Mobile will also be present for a blood drive. To schedule a donation, call Connie Ferrero at 928-3366 before noon on Friday, August 15. Walk-ins are welcome on Saturday.

Free swimming and miniature golf will be available throughout the day. A barbecue lunch, catered by Blue Mountain Smoke, will be served with help from the Red Knights.

NFEC members should watch their mail for registration cards. Be sure to bring your card and a photo ID to register at the event.
