Western Oklahoma Rt 66 Cruise Rolls Through the Heart of Route 66 Communities

Western Oklahoma’s rich stretch of Route 66 will come alive again this summer with the annual Western Oklahoma Rt 66 Cruise, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 13–14.

The cruise kicks off Friday morning at 8 a.m. with breakfast at Main Street Café in Erick, located at 110 S. Sheb Wooley. Participants will gather at 9 a.m. for a group photo in front of the Roger Miller mural at the corner of Rt 66 and Sheb Wooley Ave.

From there, the cruise heads east to visit a series of iconic Route 66 landmarks. Stops include:

  • 9:15–10:15 a.m. – The 100th Meridian Museum and Purple People Eater Square in Erick

  • 10:45–11:45 a.m. – Sayre Short Grass Museum

  • 12:15–12:45 p.m. – Lunch at 66To Go in Sayre

  • 12:45–2:00 p.m. – Rt 66 Museum Complex

  • 3:00–4:00 p.m. – Clinton Rt 66 Museum

The cruise will continue through Canute before landing in Weatherford for motel check-in. At 6 p.m., attendees are invited to downtown Weatherford for the Heartland Car Cruise Welcome Party and evening cruise.

Saturday, June 14, begins with breakfast from 8–9 a.m. at Lucille’s Roadhouse in Weatherford, followed by a visit to the Stafford Air & Space Museum from 9–10:30 a.m.

The group will cruise to Canute for lunch at Friends, then head west to Elk City for the Rt 66 Festival and final celebration.
