Fatality Crash on I-40 Claims Life of California Man

The Penny News 601

Beckham Co., OK – A single-vehicle crash Monday evening on Interstate 40 near Sayre, Oklahoma, left one man dead.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7:12 p.m. at the 15-mile marker eastbound, about five miles west of Sayre in Beckham County.

The crash involved a 2021 Freightliner driven by 24-year-old Dilpreet Singh of Fresno, California. Troopers say Singh was traveling east in the outside lane when, for an unknown reason, the semi veered off the roadway to the right. He overcorrected into the inside lane, then again into the outside lane, causing the vehicle to overturn onto the driver’s side. Singh was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene by an Erick EMS paramedic.

Authorities noted that Singh was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. His condition before the crash was reported as “apparently normal,” and the exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
