Local authorities are warning the public of a new scam that has been circulating around in the area.
Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning says he’s been made aware of a scam in which fake bills from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority are being sent to unsuspecting residents.
“They look very official with their logos and officials' seals. However, the email attached to the notice is not an official state agency email.”
Most bills from the Turnpike Authority are issued via mail. Sheriff Manning says if someone receives anything suspicious, to simply inquire about the bill by calling the Turnpike Authority directly.
