Candidate Filing for Municipal Offices in Beckham and Custer Counties Begins February 3

Beckham County, OK – The filing period for municipal office candidates in Beckham and Custer Counties opens on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. and will close on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Declarations of Candidacy must be submitted to the respective County Election Board during this time.

Offices Available in Beckham County

In Beckham County, candidates may file for offices in the municipalities of Erick, Sayre, and Elk City. Available positions include:

Erick:

  • City Clerk-Treasurer (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 2 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 4 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 1 (2-year term)

Sayre:

  • Councilmember, Ward 1, Place 2 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 2, Place 2 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 3, Place 2 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 4, Place 2 (4-year term)

  • Councilmember, Ward 3, Place 1 (2-year term)

Declarations of Candidacy must be accompanied by a Voter Registration Verification Form. Both forms are available online at oklahoma.gov/elections or at the Beckham County Election Board office, located at 306 E. Main St. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Offices Available in Custer County

In Custer County, municipal filings will take place for the towns of Arapaho, Butler, Custer City, and the City of Thomas. Positions available include:

Arapaho:

  • Board of Trustees (4-year term)

  • Board of Trustees (unexpired 2-year term)

  • Treasurer (4-year term)

Butler:

  • Board of Trustees (4-year term)

Custer City:

  • Board of Trustees (4-year term)

  • Board of Trustees (unexpired 2-year term)

Thomas:

  • Ward 2 Councilmember (4-year term)

  • Ward 4 Councilmember (4-year term)

Candidates in Custer County must meet residency requirements, including living in the municipality (and ward, where applicable) for at least six months prior to filing. Forms are available at the Custer County Election Board office, located at 633 N. 6th St., Clinton, OK, or online at elections.ok.gov.

Contests of Candidacy

Contests of Candidacy must be filed by February 7, 2025. These can only be initiated by other candidates for the same office unless the candidate is unopposed.
