Spanish Concrete Manufacturer Opens First U.S. Plant in Elk City

Elk City, OK – A Spanish concrete manufacturing company with 140 years of history has opened its first U.S. production facility in Elk City, bringing new jobs and economic development opportunities to western Oklahoma.

Escofet, an urban design company owned by international building materials group Molins, officially celebrated the opening of its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the week of October 19.

The 32,000-square-foot manufacturing plant produces concrete products used in public spaces, including benches, tables, building facades and other urban landscaping materials. Products manufactured in Elk City will be shipped to projects throughout the United States.

The facility currently employs six people, with plans to expand its workforce to between 40 and 60 employees. Company officials anticipate adding approximately 50 jobs in the coming months as production increases.

Jorge Tomás Cortés, head of Escofet US, oversees operations at the Elk City facility. Jennifer Cain, an Elk City native, serves as office manager and co-founder of Escofet US.

Company executives spent approximately two years evaluating potential locations before selecting Elk City for the company's first American manufacturing operation.

Several factors contributed to the decision, including access to raw materials such as cement and aggregates, convenient interstate transportation and Elk City's central location for distributing products nationwide. The availability of a local workforce and the community's values also played a role.

The expansion comes as Escofet celebrates its 140th anniversary and responds to increasing demand for its products in the United States.

Establishing a domestic manufacturing facility will allow the company to shorten delivery times for American customers while reducing the need to ship finished concrete products from overseas.

Production is already underway at the Elk City plant, with additional hiring and manufacturing growth planned as the company expands its U.S. operations.

The new facility positions Elk City as a manufacturing and distribution center for concrete products destined for public spaces and development projects across the country.
