Greer County, OK — A 73-year-old Mangum man was found dead Tuesday evening after failing to return from a day of fishing at Lake Lugert in Quartz Mountain State Park, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Charles A. Spencer, 73, of Mangum, was reported missing after he did not return from fishing on Tuesday. Authorities later located his boat capsized on the lake.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Spencer entered the water and did not resurface.

Spencer’s body was recovered at approximately 6:32 p.m. near Horse Head Mountain. Troopers said he was found in about six feet of water, approximately 600 feet north of the Park Side boat ramp and 40 feet east of the rocky shoreline.

At the time of the incident, weather conditions were reported as clear and windy.

Investigators reported that a personal flotation device was present but was not being worn.
