Wheeler Teen Dies in Armstrong County Rollover Crash Early Thursday Morning

Armstrong County, TX – A 19-year-old Wheeler, Texas man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Thursday morning in Armstrong County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:15 a.m. on May 7 along FM 1151 near County Road 13, roughly 12 to 15 miles west of Claude.

Authorities said a 2010 Hyundai Genesis was traveling eastbound on FM 1151 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle entered the south ditch, struck a utility pole, and rolled over.

The driver, identified as Diego Ulises Ramirez-Trejo, 19, of Wheeler, Texas, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash, according to DPS. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the wreck.

Weather conditions at the time were reported as cloudy and foggy. Road conditions were dry. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.

The Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash, which remains under investigation.
