Kiowa County, OK - A Lawton man died Friday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Kiowa County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:48 a.m. Friday, March 6, on State Highway 19 about seven miles northwest of Cooperton.

Troopers reported that a commercial motor vehicle driven by 34-year-old Tymiere J. Townsend of Lawton was traveling westbound on SH-19 when the vehicle departed the north side of the roadway. Investigators said the driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the highway and leave the roadway on the south side.

The vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side before coming to rest in a ditch.

Townsend was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was reported to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop M investigated the crash. Next of kin have been notified.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
