Cordell Woman Charged in $10,000 Embezzlement Case

Custer County, OK — A Cordell woman is facing felony charges after investigators say she embezzled thousands of dollars from her employer, a local company based in Clinton.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed November 5 in Custer County District Court, 49-year-old Brandy Nicole Bell is accused of stealing approximately $10,000 while employed as a secretary. Bell faces two felony counts — Embezzlement and Pattern of Criminal Offenses.

Investigators say the alleged crimes occurred between August 7 and August 18, 2025, when Bell was responsible for issuing payments for the business and had access to company checks. Her employer discovered questionable transactions after reviewing financial records with an accountant, which led to an internal review and a police report.

Among the suspicious transactions investigators listed were multiple checks made out to Bell, to “cash,” and to names of individuals identified as acquaintances. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Bell cashing several of the checks alongside her son.

The affidavit further states Bell used company credit cards and accounts to make unauthorized purchases, including online orders totaling more than $3,700, a $929 iPhone, and additional charges at hardware and auto parts stores in Cordell, Weatherford, and Clinton. Investigators also found a $1,000 advertisement purchase not approved by the business.

Police said Bell left her job on August 20 and could not be reached afterward. Attempts to contact her reportedly went unanswered. A Clinton detective later obtained warrants for digital records, which investigators say confirmed the use of the company’s accounts and payment methods.

The total losses were estimated at $10,000.

Bell was formally charged November 5 in Custer County District Court. The embezzlement charge carries a potential penalty of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, while the pattern of criminal offenses charge carries up to two years imprisonment.
