Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has enrolled 5,194 students for the Fall 2025 semester, with students taking a combined 58,418 credit hours. Enrollment continues to grow in areas such as concurrent enrollment, transfer students, and health-related degree programs, reflecting SWOSU’s stability and its role in expanding access to higher education across Oklahoma.
New Students
The incoming class includes 831 first-time full-time freshmen and 846 high school students participating in concurrent enrollment. SWOSU’s program provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.
Transfer students also remain a significant part of SWOSU’s enrollment, with 1,557 students continuing their education at SWOSU this fall. The university’s transfer process is designed to help students carry forward as much coursework as possible, making degree completion more efficient and affordable.
“The enrollment for this fall reflects the hard work of many across campus, including the offices of Admissions and Recruitment and Academic Records, who help students apply, enroll, and connect with the right program leading to a fulfilling career opportunity,” said Diane Fitzsimmons of the SWOSU Institutional Research Department.
Program Growth
Several SWOSU programs are experiencing significant growth this Fall 2025, particularly in Health Sciences and Pre-Nursing, while General Studies continues to lead as the largest program. These increases demonstrate SWOSU’s ongoing focus on preparing graduates for careers in health care and other in-demand industries.
“SWOSU continues to trend upward in enrollment and in the creation of workforce-focused programs,” said Dr. Patsy Parker, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Our graduates add a great value to Oklahoma's economic development.”
SWOSU graduates are consistently well prepared to meet workforce needs. Small class sizes and personalized instruction give students direct access to faculty expertise, while partnerships with regional employers create clear pathways from college to career.
