Wellington Man Receives Consecutive Prison Sentences

The Penny News 854

Childress, TX – On Wednesday, September 10, ten pleas were heard in the 100th Judicial District Court in Childress County. Among those was the case of Kerry Molina, 35, of Wellington, Texas.

Luke Inman, District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases on behalf of the state. The Honorable Judge Dale Rabe, Jr. presided over the hearings.

Molina was sentenced to two six-year prison terms for two separate third-degree felonies. He originally entered guilty pleas on September 10, 2024.

The charges stem from a June 7, 2024, arrest by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley. Molina was taken into custody for assault family violence, a third-degree felony. While being booked into jail, he was also charged with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, also a third-degree felony.

On May 7, the state filed motions to adjudicate in both cases, citing four violations in each. Molina pleaded true to the violations, leading to the prison sentences.

Judge Rabe ordered the two six-year terms to run consecutively, meaning Molina must complete one sentence before beginning the other.

In addition to prison time, Molina was ordered to pay the remaining $4,000 fine, $752 in court costs, $180 restitution, and $500 in attorney fees.
