Washita County, OK – A single-vehicle crash in Washita County claimed two lives and left another person injured, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the wreck happened Tuesday on State Highway 152 near N2340 Road, about 9.5 miles east of Cordell. A vehicle driven by 21-year-old Cisco F. Diaz of Amarillo, Texas, was headed west when it went off the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle struck a guardrail and reflective post, then went into a broad slide, hit a highway sign, and ran off an embankment into a creek bottom. It rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest under the Two Baby Creek bridge.

Diaz was killed in the crash. His passenger, 20-year-old Israel Obando of Amarillo, also died. Two other passengers were injured.

Troopers said seatbelts were not in use by all occupants. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
