Childress, TX — Two Wellington, Texas men were sentenced on felony charges in the 100th Judicial District Court on Monday, July 14, during a busy day of court that saw 11 total pleas.

Luke Inman, District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, along with Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle, prosecuted the cases. Judge Dale Rabe, Jr. presided over the proceedings in Childress County.

Christopher Dionte Davidson, 29, received two 12-year prison sentences after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child, both second-degree felonies. The charges stemmed from incidents in October and November 2024. Davidson was arrested by Collingsworth County Sheriff Kent Riley and later indicted by a grand jury on March 27.

Judge Rabe ordered that Davidson serve the two sentences consecutively, meaning he must complete one before the second begins. Davidson was also ordered to pay $340 in court costs and $500 in attorney fees. Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

We were able to successfully prosecute this case with the cooperation of our victim, who courageously helped law enforcement and our office the entire time during the pendency of this case,” said DA Inman.

Chase Daniel Grimes, 30, also of Wellington, received a four-year probation sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Grimes was arrested June 19 and pleaded guilty to a State-filed information on June 11.

As part of his sentence, Grimes was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $450 in attorney fees, and $340 in court costs. He must also complete 200 hours of community service and is barred from contacting the victim. Should he violate probation, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
