Custer County, OK – A routine traffic stop along Interstate 40 in Custer County led to the arrest of two men on felony drug charges, according to court records.

39-year-old Antonio Gonzalez and 49-year-old Matthew Daniel Boyd were pulled over by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper on January 25, 2025, near the 71-mile marker. The trooper clocked their vehicle traveling 81 mph in a 70 mph zone and noticed it weaving between lanes before initiating the stop.

Upon making contact with Gonzalez, the driver, the trooper noted the strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Gonzalez and Boyd claimed they were returning from Amarillo, Texas, after a “lightweight vacation.” However, their nervous demeanor raised suspicion, leading the trooper to search the vehicle.

Inside, law enforcement officers discovered a significant quantity of marijuana, a marijuana pipe, and a small plastic bag containing a dark residue. Additionally, they found more than $8,500 in U.S. currency, rubber-banded into separate stacks, along with a notebook containing financial records that appeared to track drug sales. Gas station receipts linked the pair to multiple locations, including California, New Mexico, Missouri, and Texas.

Gonzalez and Boyd were arrested and transported to the Custer County Jail. Gonzalez, who has a prior conviction for drug trafficking in Tulsa County, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute (marijuana) and acquiring proceeds from drug activity. Boyd faces the same charges.

Bond for Gonzalez was set at $100,000 due to his criminal history, while Boyd’s bond was set at $30,000.

Boyd and Gonzalez's next court date is scheduled for February 21.
