Elk City School Board Approves Three-Year Extension for Superintendent Mike Sparks

The Penny News 368

The Elk City School Board convened for its regular session on Monday night, making a pivotal decision regarding the district's leadership.

During an executive session, the board discussed the contract of Superintendent Mike Sparks. Following deliberations, the board approved a three-year extension to Sparks' contract, reaffirming their confidence in his leadership and dedication to the district.

Superintendent Sparks expressed heartfelt gratitude for the board's decision. "This community, board of education, and school district made my family feel very at home from the very first night I was here. I remain deeply grateful for the opportunity I was given four years ago. My daughter is graduating this year, my son is in the eighth grade, and my wife teaches here at the high school. I just couldn’t have asked for a better situation for my family."

Sparks has served as Superintendent of Elk City since 2021.

In related news, the Clinton School Board also met earlier this week and approved a three-year contract extension for their superintendent, Tyler Bridges, marking a week of significant leadership decisions for area school districts.
