GPRMC Press Release

The Elk City Homemakers recently donated over 50 stuffed animals to Great Plains Regional Medical Center (GPRMC) to bring comfort to pediatric patients. This generous gesture reflects the group’s commitment to supporting the local community.

The Elk City Homemakers are part of the Oklahoma Home Community Education Organization, a division of the Beckham County OSU Extension. Guided by the principles of promoting strong families, love, mutual respect, and the development of potential in children, the group is committed to improving living conditions and fostering community spirit. Comprised of 10 passionate and community-oriented women, the group meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Their activities include active participation in the county fair and other local initiatives aimed at fostering community spirit and support.

GPRMC was equally enthusiastic about the donation. “These stuffed animals will provide an extra layer of comfort to our youngest patients during what can be a stressful time for them and their families,” said Angie Clinton, ER Director at GPRMC. “We are so grateful to the Elk City Homemakers for their kindness and generosity.”

The Elk City Homemakers are actively seeking new members, especially younger individuals, to join their mission of community involvement and service. Those interested in joining are encouraged to contact Advisor, Kristy Spalding, at 580-832-3356 or reach out to the Beckham County OSU Extension office at 580-928-2139 for more information.
