A tragic accident claimed the life of a 15-year-old Sayre resident on Sunday, December 22, 2024. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:57 PM on N 1900 Rd and E 1120 Rd, about four miles north of Sayre in Beckham County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident involved a 2018 Polaris Ranger driven by a 15-year-old male whose name is being withheld due to his age. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on E 1120 Rd when the driver lost control, causing the Ranger to leave the roadway and roll. The driver was ejected during the rollover, and the vehicle came to rest on top of him.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Sinor EMS and transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City.

A passenger in the vehicle, also a 15-year-old male from Sayre, was transported privately to Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne. He was treated and released with minor injuries.

Neither the driver nor the passenger were using seatbelts at the time of the crash. The condition of the driver and the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
