The Penny News 294

On Monday, November 25, five pleas were heard in the 100th Judicial District Court. Among those cases, two individuals from Mobeetie and Wellington faced sentencing for felony offenses.

Luke Inman, District Attorney for the 100th Judicial District, and Assistant District Attorney Harley Caudle prosecuted the cases on behalf of the State of Texas. The Honorable Judge Stuart Messer presided over the hearings by assignment.

Edward Allen Reeves, 33, of Mobeetie, Texas, received a 10-year prison sentence for a second-degree felony offense of burglary of a habitation. The crime occurred in Hall County on May 25, 2021.

Reeves had previously been placed on probation on April 27, 2022. However, the State filed a motion on June 21, 2023, to adjudicate his probation, citing eight violations of its conditions. Reeves pleaded true to the allegations. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $355 in court costs.

Leticia Michelle Garcia, 43, of Wellington, Texas, was sentenced to five years in prison for a third-degree felony offense of possession of a controlled substance. The offense occurred in Collingsworth County on January 25, 2022.

Garcia had been placed on probation on September 21, 2023. However, on March 12, the State filed a motion alleging eight violations of her probation conditions. Garcia also pleaded true to the allegations. She was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $376 in court costs.

Both cases highlight the State’s commitment to prosecuting probation violations and ensuring accountability for felony offenses in the 100th Judicial District.
