Wheeler County, TX – Voters across Shamrock and Wheeler County went to the polls May 2, deciding city leadership, school board races, and multiple school propositions.

In the City of Shamrock mayoral race, incumbent Kenneth Campbell secured re-election, defeating challenger Michael Mendoza. Campbell received a strong majority of the vote across absentee, early, and election day ballots.

For Shamrock City Council, where two seats were open, Mickey Mitchell and Russell Killingsworth emerged as the top vote-getters, winning the available positions. James Henderson finished behind the two winners.

In the Wheeler ISD School Board elections, Misty Copeland was elected unopposed to Place 1. In the contested race for Place 2, Tammy B. Moore defeated Mark Marshall. Place 3 was also unopposed, with Billy Atkinson securing the seat.

Voters in Kelton ISD weighed in on three bond propositions totaling $3 million in proposed improvements.

Proposition A, a $2.5 million measure, focuses on general maintenance and renovation across the district. This includes updates to buses and vehicles, equipment upgrades, HVAC improvements, water well work, roof repairs, playground equipment, parking lot maintenance, athletic facility upkeep, and improvements to agricultural facilities. The measure passed with strong support.

Proposition B, totaling $200,000, addresses technology needs including Chromebook and laptop replacements, network equipment and maintenance, and ongoing software contracts. This proposition also passed with a clear majority.

Proposition C, a $300,000 proposal, is aimed at teacher housing updates, repairs, and general maintenance. Voters approved the measure, completing a sweep for the district’s bond proposals.

The results remain unofficial until canvassed.
