Elk City, OK – The Elk City Police Department has completed a recent compliance operation targeting registered sex offenders and violent offenders within the city.

According to officials, the department’s Criminal Investigations Division conducted random compliance checks on all 36 registered individuals currently living within the jurisdiction. These checks are part of ongoing efforts to ensure offenders are following legal requirements and to maintain public safety.

As a result of the operation, investigators initiated three separate investigations. One arrest has been made, one warrant has been issued, and one individual has fled the area and is now being actively sought by authorities.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 21-year-old Dakota Ray Estes, a registered sex offender. A $20,000 warrant for his arrest was issued through Beckham County in connection with Case Number CF-2023-42. The charge involves a motion to revoke related to soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor using technology.

Authorities stress that Estes should not be approached. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Elk City Police Department at 580-225-1212 or reach out to their local law enforcement agency. Information can also be provided directly to Captain Sammy Weygand at the same number or by email at weygand@elkcity.com.

Officials say they appreciate the community’s cooperation as they continue working to keep Elk City safe.
