Sayre, OK – A coordinated response between local law enforcement agencies helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation in Beckham County, according to Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning.

Sheriff Manning said his office assisted the Mangum Police Department after receiving information about an individual who had allegedly made threats toward a person in Beckham County. Authorities believed the suspect was traveling toward the county and may have been heading to the residence of an ex-girlfriend.

Deputies responded to the area in an effort to locate the individual and ensure the intended victim remained safe. However, before the suspect could reach Beckham County, Mangum police officers were able to locate and arrest him within their jurisdiction.

Manning credited the quick communication and teamwork between agencies for the outcome.

We appreciate their work, and my guys were just trying to make sure that we stayed safe on this end,” Manning said.

The sheriff also emphasized the critical role of dispatchers during incidents like this, noting they were heavily involved in relaying information between officers in the field and coordinating efforts across departments.

This is just a small example of how they work every day, passing that information back and forth, trying to make sure that the bad guy gets stopped and caught and that the people that need to be kept safe are kept safe,” Manning said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
