Jackson County, OK – Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle collision late Friday night at an intersection west of Altus.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:06 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62 and County Road 198, about six miles west of Altus in Jackson County.

Troopers reported that a vehicle driven by 75-year-old John R. Kellison of Hollis was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 62 when another vehicle, driven by 70-year-old Johnny V. Hamilton of Olustee, was stopped at a stop sign on County Road 198.

Hamilton reportedly failed to yield to eastbound traffic and attempted to turn left onto the highway. Authorities say his vehicle turned in front of Kellison’s vehicle, and the eastbound vehicle struck Hamilton’s vehicle.

Kellison and a passenger in his vehicle were both injured in the collision. Hamilton was also reported injured. All occupants involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.

No fatalities were reported. Next of kin have been notified.

The collision remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
