Winter Storm Brings Widespread Snow to Western Oklahoma

The Penny News 1105

Norman, OK – A winter storm that moved through Western Oklahoma over the weekend delivered a wide range of snowfall totals, with several communities picking up significant accumulations.

According to preliminary estimates from the National Weather Service in Norman, snowfall amounts generally ranged from 2 inches in the far southwest to more than a foot in parts of northwestern Oklahoma.

The heaviest snowfall in the region was reported in Sayre, which measured 14 inches. Nearby areas saw Weatherford officially receive 8 inches, while Woodward and Altus each reported 6 inches of snow.

Data indicates that much of Beckham County received the highest snowfall totals in the state, with amounts ranging from 12 to 18 inches.

Forecasters note these totals are estimates based on reports received through early afternoon on January 25, and localized variations are possible. Snowfall impacts included slick roads, travel delays, and school and event disruptions across much of the region.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring local forecasts and road conditions as cleanup efforts continue across Western Oklahoma.
