SBA Offers Drought Relief Loans for Area Businesses, Nonprofits

Washington, D.C. – Small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Beckham, Caddo, Greer, and Washita counties now have access to low interest federal disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration following a drought declaration affecting much of western Oklahoma.

The assistance is available under the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan program and applies to economic losses caused by drought conditions that began Nov. 11, 2025. In addition to Beckham, Caddo, Greer, and Washita counties, the declaration also includes several surrounding Oklahoma counties.

Eligible applicants include small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofit organizations, including faith based organizations, that experienced financial losses tied to the drought. The loans are intended to help cover working capital needs such as payroll, fixed debts, accounts payable, and other routine expenses that could not be met because of the disaster. Physical damage is not required to qualify.

Agricultural producers, farmers, and ranchers are not eligible for SBA disaster loans, with the exception of small aquaculture operations.

Loan amounts may reach up to $2 million, with interest rates as low as 4 percent for small businesses and 3.625 percent for private nonprofits. Loan terms can extend up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue and payments are deferred until 12 months after the first loan disbursement. Final loan terms are based on each applicant’s financial condition.

The deadline to submit applications is Aug. 31.
