Clinton Man Charged with Sexual Battery While in Custer County Jail

The Penny News 101

A Clinton man faces charges of sexual battery while in custody at Custer County Jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 59-year-old Ronnie Donnell Lister was in custody at the jail when, on October 22, an officer received a report from a detention officer regarding complaints from an inmate alleging that Lister had made inappropriate comments toward him and others.

During the investigation, the officer interviewed four inmates who each reported ongoing verbal and physical harassment by Lister. They claimed he had groped them, exposed himself, and solicited sexual acts on multiple occasions. One of the men stated he witnessed Lister assaulting two other inmates.

Following these reports, Lister was moved to isolation for safety reasons. While being escorted, he reportedly shouted, “I didn’t touch (two of the alleged victims),” despite not being asked about them.

Court records show Lister was originally incarcerated on a domestic assault and battery charge involving strangulation.
